Hello, I'm Joelle Buchanan, the editor of the Falkirk Herald, and I'm here to tell you
00:04
about some of the stories that are making the headlines in our print edition, which
00:07
is on sale now. A mum has called for the removal of traffic lights, which was installed in
00:12
the heart of Madison. Put in place two years ago by Falkirk Council, they've never been
00:17
switched on, and she says it is becoming an accident black spot after her daughter was
00:22
injured in an incident with a car. Meanwhile, the council has agreed to sell the former
00:27
headquarters and Town Hall site in Falkirk to developers for £6.2 million, with most
00:32
of the money going towards the new Town Hall in the heart of the town. As plans were discussed
00:38
to upgrade Falkalander Park, one councillor raised the issue of barriers being in place
00:44
which saw paramedics unable to get their ambulance through to deal with a sick member of the
00:48
public. Jury members who sat through the trial of a denny man and had to watch videos of
00:54
him raping a young woman have been offered counselling after they found John Allen guilty
00:59
of sex attacks. A charity and workers from British Gas have carried out the transformation
01:06
of a family's garden to allow a disabled child to spend time outdoors. We've also got pictures
01:13
from two events which recognise the work of our armed forces, one in Grangemouth and one
01:17
in Lauriston. A fun day at Burnbrae Care Home in Falkirk, as well as a gallery of photographs
01:24
taken by our readers. Historian Iain Scott this week tells us more about the life of
01:29
William Forbes of Calander, best known for Calander House. In sport, Stennismuir FC have
01:36
been named as one of the UK's top community-focused clubs, according to the Fair Game Index for
01:41
2024, and three young Stennismuir bowlers helped their team win the youth county final
01:47
at the weekend. All these stories and much more are in a print edition which is on sale
01:53
now and also online at www.falkirkerald.co.uk. Thank you.
