00:09Obiena announces he will miss the ISTAF Berlin in Germany, world-class Zurich in Switzerland,

00:14and the Diamond League final in Belgium after being diagnosed with a fractured L5 vertebra.

00:20Back issues have bothered Obiena in recent months as he struggled to gear up for the

00:23Paris Olympics where he fell short of a medal placing fourth.

00:27Obiena bounced back by landing joint third in the Lausanne Diamond League in Switzerland

00:32but said his back pain flared up during the competition in Poland, resulting in a fifth-place

00:36finish.

00:37Obiena will also sit out the Philippine International Pole Vault Challenge, set to be staged at

00:42the Ayala Triangle Garden on September 20.

00:45It is uncertain whether the meet will push through, but Obiena says he'll post more information

00:49soon.
