00:14They are bombing schools and hospitals, and the people here are protesting to say that

00:19that's not right, and the United States should not be aiding and abetting a terrorist like

00:28Democrats from the so-called Uncommitted Movement, Democratic primary voters who cast protest

00:33votes against the renomination of Joe Biden over his support for the Israeli war effort,

00:37had pushed for the inclusion of pro-Palestinian speakers on the convention's main stage.

00:42Instead, they got a panel discussion at a secondary venue, where a pediatrician who

00:47has treated victims in Gaza brought audience members to tears as she described the horrors

00:52she witnessed there.

00:56Democrats worry that outrage over the tens of thousands of Palestinian civilians killed

01:00by Israel, with America's military and diplomatic support, could prove a decisive weakness among

01:06their base at the ballot box come November, a concern reflected in the messaging coming

01:11from the podium.

01:12JOSEPH BIDEN, President of the United States of America, said in a statement to The New

01:13York Times,

01:14The civilian suffering of the Palestinian people, and finally, finally, finally deliver

01:18a cease-fire and end this war.

01:22While Kamala Harris has taken a less strident pro-Israel tone than Biden, the Democratic

01:27platform remains unchanged, with no mention of the arms embargoes on Israel demanded by

01:33protesters.

01:34According to Gaza's Hamas-run health ministry, the known death toll there is now well over

01:3940,000.

01:40Aid groups and independent studies, though, say the real figure is likely much higher.

01:45Last week, Washington approved a new $20 billion arms sale to Israel.
