00:00Muhyiddin Yassin has defended a speech he made when campaigning for the Ningiri by-election,
00:07which is now a subject of a police probe, saying it was not intended to insult the monarchy.
00:13In a statement, the Perikatan National Chairman insisted that his speech was factual and not
00:18meant to incite the public.
00:20The former Prime Minister said he believes his statement did not violate any laws, adding
00:25that he will cooperate fully with the police and clarify his speech.
00:29In a cerama, Muhyiddin claimed that for some reason, he was not invited by the 16th Yang
00:34Di-Pertuan Agong, al-Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah, to be sworn in as Prime Minister
00:39after the 15th General Election, despite obtaining the majority to form the government.
00:45His claim has led to criticisms and police reports being lodged against him, calling
00:49for stern action to be taken.
00:51Earlier today, the Pahang Crown Prince also called for the police to act decisively against
00:56Muhyiddin.
