Bristol Hippodrome launches a food rive in collaboration with ‘Come From Away’
This beautiful musical encourages acts of kindness and that’s why the theatre and the Producers of Come From Away have partnered up to help the community by running a food drive for the South & East Bristol Foodbank. The collections will go straight to the bristol areas to help those in need and will be distributed by the food banks.

00:00So could you tell me a little bit about what you have recently announced you are doing
00:05in collaboration with the Come From Away tour?
00:08Yeah, so we've decided to do a food drive for a local charity. We're going to do it
00:14for South East Food Bank, which is our nearest one. It's mainly because for anyone who's
00:22seen Come From Away, you'll know that the whole message of that musical is about human
00:30kindness, coming together as a community, volunteering, just sharing sort of love with
00:38strangers really. So we thought, why not celebrate the show by doing something really nice for
00:44our community?
00:47And what can people expect or what can people bring as part of this collaboration?
00:54So what we're asking is anybody who's coming to see the show, because the food drive is
00:59going to be running for the whole time that we've got Come From Away, which is the 20th
01:03until the 31st of August. So we're going to be asking any patrons coming along if they'd
01:09be able to bring a can of pulses or a canned meal of some kind, shampoo, I think toilet
01:18roll. We've got a whole list of things that we're just going to ask if anybody can to
01:23bring with them. People who aren't coming to see the show are welcome to donate as well.
01:28It's just that the donation point is going to be in our box office. So the box office
01:33is now only open 90 minutes before performance begins. So we just want to make sure people
01:37definitely know that so they don't come to the theatre and disappointed that they can't
01:41make a donation. But I think especially right now with everything that's happening in the
01:45news, sadly, all these riots that are happening, it's never been more important to remind people
01:51that there is kindness out there. There's good people and people who care about our
01:56community and want to be there for other people.
