Michael Bloomberg’s organization Bloomberg Philanthropies announced a $600 million gift to the endowments of four historically Black medical schools.

00:00Michael Bloomberg's charity is giving $600 million to four historically black medical schools.

00:05It's one of the largest private donations to any historically black college or university.

00:11The Bloomberg Philanthropies will be donating $175 million,

00:15each going to Howard University College of Medicine,

00:18Meharry Medical College, and Morehouse School of Medicine.

00:21$75 million will go to Charles Drew University of Medicine and Science,

00:26and Xavier University of Louisiana will receive a $5 million grant.

00:30Bloomberg hopes the gift will empower new generations of black doctors

00:34to create a healthier and more equitable future for our country.

00:37The donations follow a $1 billion pledge he made in July to Johns Hopkins University,

00:42which will allow most medical students to attend tuition-free.
