00:27Well, welcome, welcome to the Black Voices Cornwall first ever celebration of Windrush Day.

00:35It's great to see so many of you here today.

00:38I'm going to count to three and you're going to shout out the name of your school.

00:53Well, we are here. We are here to celebrate Windrush today.

00:57I know some of you have taken part of some fantastic activities.

01:01There has been some art workshops going on, some music and movement workshops.

01:06There's been some really impactful conversations going on.

01:11It's really important for people like myself and some of my team at Black Voices Cornwall to celebrate Windrush

01:18because we are part of the Windrush generation.

01:22So, my grandparents, some 75 years ago, came over from the Caribbean

01:30and that's why I am here in Britain today.

01:34I've lived in Britain all my life. I've been in Cornwall for most of my life

01:38so it's really, really pleased to be here with you.

02:26These are steel pans. These are the Steelers. Give us a big cheer for the Steelers.

02:41So, the Steelers are a 25 piece band. Have you got 25? Have a quick count up.

03:01So, how long do you think the Steelers have been going for?

03:17They are from Trafiglas Academy.

03:22This is a really special moment for me for a number of reasons.

03:26My grandad, when he came over, brought one of his steel pans with him from the Caribbean and used to play.

03:33And it's still in our family today.

03:36That same steel pan that was crafted over in the Caribbean over 80 years ago.

03:42So, really, really excited to be here today.

03:44They perform at all sorts of festivals. Has anyone seen the Steelers before?
