00:00Russian President Vladimir Putin said there could be an end to the war in Ukraine if Kiev

00:07agreed to certain demands.

00:11NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says Russia has ramped up aggression towards alliance

00:22Russian President Vladimir Putin said a ceasefire could be brokered with Ukraine if Kiev renounces

00:29its plans to join NATO and withdraws troops from areas annexed by Moscow.

00:59Putin delivered the comments during a speech at the Russian Foreign Ministry in Moscow.

01:23Ukrainian and NATO officials have rejected the proposal, saying it is not a real offer

01:27for peace.

01:31Russia has engaged in renewed high levels of hostile activity against NATO allies, according

01:36to Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

01:38As a result, the alliance says it stepped up its defences through increased intelligence

01:43exchange, enhanced protection of critical infrastructure including undersea and in cyberspace,

01:49with further restrictions on Russian spies.

01:53Recent weeks we have seen a surge of sabotage, cyber attacks, instrumentalised migration

02:01and other hostile actions by Russia.

02:06We will be calm and measured in how we respond to Russian provocations.

02:13At the same time, we will call out Russia's actions and impose costs.

02:19A defence strategy not seen since the Cold War was laid out at a meeting of NATO defence

02:24ministers including Ukrainian Minister Rustam Umarov.

02:28It detailed how the alliance intends to deter and defend against global threats including

02:32Russia and included 500,000 troops at high readiness across all domains.

02:38Ahead of the 75th anniversary of NATO in Washington, D.C. next month, allies also agreed to focus

02:44on stable military support to Ukraine.

02:47It will give more predictability and transparency and ensure a minimum of fair burden-sharing

02:53within the alliance and most importantly, it will send a message to Moscow that they

02:59cannot wait us out.

03:01NATO defence ministers say it's now time for long-term planning for Ukraine and have agreed

03:05extensive military training for Ukrainian soldiers towards stronger interoperability.

03:10They also say it's now time in practice and in language to move Ukraine towards full membership

03:15of the alliance.

03:21European People's Party President Manfred Weber said the door is open for Tisza to join

03:27the group in European Parliament.

03:29The party leader made the comments during a meeting in Budapest, Hungary.

03:34The centrist Tisza party won seven seats at the recent European parliamentary election.

03:39Congratulations to the democratic success here in Hungary, to the support from the citizens

03:44of Hungary and I saw a lot of very qualified personalities and I will report back to the

03:51EPP group.

03:52I guess when I see what is reality here on the ground, that the seven colleagues are

03:57welcomed in the EPP group, so the door is open.

04:00Tisza party vice president Peter Magyar said at the joint press conference this was the

04:05beginning of a fruitful European friendship.

04:08He stressed, however, that his MEPs may be critical of, quote, sensitive issues but did

04:14not disclose the exact issues.

04:16We discussed the technical aspects and the content aspects of the joint work, and next

04:21week we are going to Brussels and two MEPs are already sitting there.

04:25This has become the biggest fraction in the European Parliament, with all kinds of contradictory

04:31statements.

04:32Compared to the government's statements, the right-wing won the EPP elections.

04:38It is an indispensable member of the EU decision-making.

04:43Tisza MEPs would join the parliamentary group, but not the alliance itself.

04:49EPP members will deliver their final say on Monday.
