Spotty thunderstorms fire up through the Southeast

As steamy heat builds in Florida, thunderstorms are rumbling across the Southeast.

00:00Let's set our way off toward the south here for tonight where we're talking about early evening

00:03thunderstorms around Tampa, Jacksonville and also toward Montgomery and Miami. Steamy 79 degrees.

00:10That's a big storyline here in Florida. The heat and the humidity again also in combination with

00:17the storms. Hazy hot and humid conditions continuing. There'll be a belt along Interstate

00:2240 where it's going to be beautiful from Nashville to Asheville toward Raleigh

00:27and still nice. Here's work our way into Saturday. Numbers to the north in the 80s.

00:31Right about where they should be for this time of the year but points off to the south. We're

00:35going to blow well beyond our historical averages here and we're going to go into

00:39record territory on a daily basis. Friday into Saturday and also into Sunday and that will raise

00:45the risk here for heat related illnesses. Check out the Saturday's high temperatures alone here

00:51into again the Leesburg all the way up to 98 degrees and that would set a new daily record.
