Rainy weather is bringing cooler weather to the Northeast while humidity soars in the South.

00:00 There is a severe threat that we're tracking and we've seen a little bit of wind out there.
00:03 There was a tornado warn cell earlier south of DC and you can see at Quantico Marine Base a 48
00:09 mile per hour wind gust was measured here today back at 209. But otherwise we're going to be
00:14 watching for some more strong storms. We've had some activity off to the west also some wind up
00:18 into Maine with a couple of trees down into Windom and Gray that was back at 251. So we've had some
00:25 consequential weather even up into Maine. But as we look ahead to the forecast for the rest of this
00:30 evening we're dealing with some strong thunderstorms that will continue to kind of be pesky
00:34 and moving through the eastern Ohio Valley. So there are thunderstorms impacting areas farther
00:38 east as well but the severe weather risk is greater farther west partly because the core of
00:45 this storm system the upper level low that's driving things is camping out over the western
00:49 part of Ontario a little closer to Michigan at this point. So hail flash flooding downpours a
00:55 big concerns and here we can move forward in time with the overnight thunderstorms moving east and
00:59 northeast. So a period of rain around midday tomorrow into Boston. You're squeaking through
01:04 today dry but you will see some action on Thursday with widespread rain and then this front is going
01:11 to be moving east here and that's going to be bringing a new round of some spotty showers and
01:15 thunderstorms into areas that follow. So from around Oswego and Syracuse down into Scranton
01:21 and Williamsport and as that moves east that'll be reinforcing some cooler air into the region
01:26 from west to east but still another influx of showers and storms. You'll see a couple around
01:30 of these into eastern New England on Thursday and then into Friday here come a few more storms
01:35 showers over areas around the interior northeast pivoting through the region and up into Friday
01:41 evening we'll see a few more reach the New England states yet again. So we're transitioning to a
01:45 wetter time Thursday off and on showers spotty showers for some but actual thunderstorms for
01:51 others. We'll have to keep an eye out for maybe the risk for a couple of isolated severe storms.
01:55 Overall though you can see most of us will be in the mid to upper 60s from eastern New England
02:00 into the low 80s for most other areas here. We're split though Buffalo 68 with that wind off of Lake
02:05 Erie keeping you cooler low 80s in Pittsburgh tomorrow upper 80s into Virginia Beach that's
02:10 the hot spot. Some of these storms on Thursday could also be strong to severe so a couple of
02:15 gusty storms will roll through areas near and east of interstate 81. We'll keep an eye out for them
02:20 more showers and storms linger on Friday. So it's a pretty active pattern here Breit over the next
02:25 few days in the northeast and the southeast is not entirely sitting this out either. No not at all
02:30 and unfortunately we also have to add on the humidity as well. Nashville okay we were I still
02:37 did not look and see what they were setting up I'm going to have to do that now but you see the
02:41 sunshine there though those winds are picking up that flag is blowing around Nashville right now at
02:46 84. Now as we do head into the later half of the week less humid in areas like Nashville and Atlanta
02:54 and Raleigh that's because we're going to get some drier air shifting south though unfortunately
03:00 the humidity hangs on and quite nicely across the Gulf Coast and even down through the state
03:07 of Florida so that humidity is going to be sticking around and unfortunately we aren't
03:11 completely done with the thunderstorms but it's not necessarily going to be a complete washout.
03:16 Like I said here comes that cool down and at least comes down the dew points as we head into Friday
03:22 again anywhere north of Montgomery Atlanta you're not going to be feeling too bad. South of there
03:27 though look at this record heat returns we're going to see a shift in our weather pattern we're
03:33 going to build that heat across the Atlantic coast right through the Space Coast even down through
03:37 southern Florida Miami highs are running about five to ten degrees above the historical averages.
03:44 Now of course this is going to raise concerns there is going to be a higher risk of heat
03:49 related illnesses so please make sure you're taking care of yourself have the water ready to go
03:55 if you're heading out to the beaches make sure you have umbrellas and you are seeking shade.
