Watch as hundreds of people enjoy some retail therapy as Washington's new M&S store opens for customers

The new M&S store in Washington has opened to customers.

00:00 It's 15 minutes until the new M&S store in Washington, Oregon.

00:04 And as you can see, we've already got large queues starting to fill up.

00:08 Okay, I don't know about the store manager, how does it feel to be here at the end of the opening?

00:16 Yeah, it's a really exciting day for me. So I've been working on this project for about six months now.

00:20 So building a strong team of 150 people, I'm just excited that we've finally opened the doors to the Washington customers

00:26 and we can show them this brilliant new store that we've got for them.

00:29 And obviously a big turnout, they want to be in the response from customers.

00:32 Yeah, so I've been on site now for about 10 days building the store.

00:35 And actually I'm getting stopped every time I go to my car, I can see how excited the Washington customers are to get in.

00:40 So they've been able to get food hauled just five doors down, but actually they're coming in now to a full-size food range.

00:45 That's double the offer that they had in the Simply Food.

00:48 But now they can also shop women's wear, men's wear, lingerie, kids and beauty over two floors as well.

00:54 Three, two, one, zero!

00:57 So, Cailin and Christina, how does it feel to be invited to come to the ribbon cutting for the new store?

01:14 Absolutely delighted. It was a real honour and privilege to do this.

01:19 My mum was the first customer in the Simply Food 13 years ago and talked about it her whole life.

01:27 Sadly, my mum passed away last year, but I would be delighted to know that I've followed her in her footsteps.

01:34 The store is fabulous and as you can see, everyone's going to love it.

01:40 It's a great asset for Washington.

01:46 So here we've got the new M&S food court, which is double the size of the previous store.

01:51 As we pan around here to the left, again this is different to the old store, which didn't have a clothing section.

01:57 What we've got here is the women's wear section.

01:59 You can see it's already busy with people.

02:01 There were hundreds of people in this morning queuing ready to get in for nine o'clock.

02:05 There are two floors, which we're going to head up to the second floor now.

02:10 As you can see, lots of different things here for people to buy in terms of women's wear.

02:17 We're going to make our way upstairs now.

02:20 Up to the second floor.

02:26 As you can see, the previous store was just a food court, which was half the size of the current one.

02:34 The total new store is 43,000 square foot, so again it's much, much bigger than the old Washington store.

02:41 So again, we've got the shoes section here.

02:47 In the new store we've got more women's wear and we've also got a beauty section.

02:55 As we pan over to this side here, you'll see again lots of people up here.

03:03 We've got the men's section down at the far end, which we'll just have a walk down towards now.

03:09 So anybody looking to get new outfits for the summer, there's plenty here.

03:19 And also for families, unlike the other store, we've also got a kids section here.

03:28 Again, you can come and get kids clothing for the summer holidays.
