00:00 [MUSIC PLAYING]
00:03 Just looking at his scores for the week,
00:05 this was my own little stat experiment I was doing,
00:08 is that we talked yesterday about--
00:10 Amanda Baleonis asked him about this,
00:12 and just talking about how Friday he went out
00:15 and played well in the immediate wake of everything that happened
00:18 with the arrest and warming up, kind of played on adrenaline,
00:21 and how Saturday was obviously the big letdown.
00:25 And not only was it feeling exhausted in a lot of ways,
00:29 but also he doesn't have Ted Scott on his bag on Saturday.
00:32 And he sat with Amanda again after his round today,
00:34 and she said, feeling a little better today.
00:36 Look like you're back to usual self.
00:37 And he was saying, I'm still a little bit fatigued
00:40 and just kind of feeling a little bit off.
00:42 I'd obviously played better today,
00:43 but made some mistakes that I normally wouldn't have.
00:45 So just looking at his scores for the week.
00:48 So if you plugged in Scottie's worst non-Saturday score
00:53 of the week for his Saturday round, it would have been a 67.
00:57 He would have finished at 19 under and solo third.
01:00 If you plugged in his best score of the week, 65,
01:04 he finishes tied for first at 21 under,
01:07 and he's going to a playoff with Xander Schauffele.
01:09 I mean, how is that sitting with you?
01:13 And how do you think it's sitting with others
01:15 as we're looking at what could have been a grand slam year
01:17 for Scottie?
01:18 It's just frustrating, especially
01:20 with the new reports that are coming out
01:21 about some of the people that were actually there
01:24 as witnesses as well.
01:26 I believe it was some folks from the ESPN, their crew, Dave
01:30 Fleming, Jeff Ogilvie.
01:31 I think they had eyes on it as well.
01:34 It's noted that these charges looks like they're
01:36 going to get dropped.
01:38 It's just a really sad situation,
01:40 because I know plenty of Louisville people
01:43 that we talk to are just so frustrated by what happened.
01:46 Valhalla members, I know, are just devastated
01:50 that this happened, because it's just
01:51 going to leave a lasting memory for so many people,
01:54 because it's going to stick with Scottie for a long time.
01:58 How much does he want to see himself in a jumpsuit
02:02 from something that he feels like he has done before,
02:06 and it just was a wrong place, wrong time type of situation?
02:10 Yeah, I mean, I think that we had our fun on the internet.
02:13 I'm not like poo-pooing the fun that was had.
02:15 There were a lot of funny memes and TikToks and things
02:18 like that we had a good laugh at.
02:20 But as you're kind of like getting away from the week,
02:22 and it's a little bit sobering to think, first of all,
02:26 it needs to be mentioned again.
02:27 And subsequently, after we recapped everything
02:31 that happened on Friday morning, and we're
02:34 parsing through the tragedy of John Mills,
02:37 who they released the name of that volunteer who
02:40 was working the tournament.
02:41 John Mills, obviously, terrible tragedy for his family.
02:45 And our condolences go out to that Mills family.
02:48 So his family is impacted irretrievably.
02:52 And the same thing with Scotty.
02:53 It's like this is a thing he now has to deal with.
02:55 Whether or not the charters get dropped,
02:57 there was an arraignment scheduled on Tuesday.
02:59 It's just a thing that has to kind of live in his psyche,
03:01 and he probably has to go decompress.
03:03 And meanwhile, he's in the midst of a season
03:05 that could have shaped up as one of the best of his career
03:07 and maybe rank among the best of all time.
03:10 It's just a tough, tough thing to reckon with.
03:13 And I think that, yeah, I mean, you said it well.
03:16 I think it's tough for Valhalla.
03:18 It's tough for Louisville.
03:20 You'd imagine that the timeline for a return to Valhalla
03:24 for a PGA Championship, by then, this probably
03:29 will be an afterthought.
03:30 But still, in the immediate sense of this season,
03:32 it's just a tough, tough thing.
03:34 And let's hope Scotty's able to kind of deal with all--
03:37 and to your point about the dismissal of the charters,
03:39 I think that was first reported by Kevin Van Valkenburgh.
03:42 No laying up.
03:43 Just those charters were going to be dropped,
03:45 will likely be dropped from what he'd heard from his sourcing.
03:48 But yeah, hopefully that goes away.
03:50 Hopefully he doesn't have to go to that arraignment.
03:51 And he can just kind of move on, move past it,
03:53 and get his head right and keep playing Scotty Sheffler
03:56 golf the rest of the way.
03:57 Because that was not a fun road bump.
