Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney bought the Welsh soccer club Wrexham in 2021,
00:04
but are now facing a challenge with UK planning regulations.
00:07
And Reynolds says he thinks the thick bureaucracy is the biggest problem.
00:11
The two are trying to expand Wrexham Stadium, which currently holds 12,600 people,
00:15
but they wanted to eventually accommodate 45,000 to 55,000 fans gradually.
00:20
But they say the UK bureaucracy is making it difficult.
00:23
Reynolds spoke to Collider and explained that the US has more
00:26
liberal planning laws compared to the UK.
00:28
The UK has more protected land, stricter regulations,
00:31
and requires consultations with various stakeholders for planning approval.
00:35
And even after meeting these requirements, success with the plan is not guaranteed.
00:39
But despite these difficulties, the Hollywood stars are hoping to find their way around
00:43
the law to accommodate a growing global fan base for the Wrexham team.
