Express&Star visit Wolverhampton over 50s health club to speak to new members who say their mental and physical health have greatly improve since joining.

00:00 Hi I'm Martin Mayer, I'm 48 years old. I do Bradmore Fitness for the 50+ age group.

00:07 The reason why I set this up is because a lot of people when they get to that age, they get neglected and ignored.

00:14 And all they want is to do the same kind of exercises as a younger person, but not feel intimidated.

00:20 So my idea of setting this up was to make people feel comfortable, to exercise, to meet new people,

00:27 and just basically enjoy life a bit more.

00:30 My name's Debbie Watkin, I live in Wolverhampton, I'm 66.

00:34 My name is Irene Bromley, my age is 79, I live in Wolverhampton, I'm a retired registered nurse and midwife.

00:44 Hi my name is Diane Finch, I'm 71, I live in Wolverhampton.

00:50 So I started coming here because basically I just wanted to get a bit fitter.

00:54 I'd had a knee replacement, I'd tried the big gyms with all the skinny people in Lycra, I didn't feel very comfortable.

01:00 This feels like a lovely friendly group.

01:03 I started coming here because when I retired I wanted to remain active and to gain strength.

01:10 And I find waking up early in the morning and coming here gives me the motivation to come and do exercise.

01:16 I came here after lockdown and was very lonely and feeling very sad and that.

01:22 Coming here has made me a new family, it's made me a lot fitter.

01:27 Hi I'm Graham Woodruff, you want my age, I'm 89, I think I may be the oldest here.

01:35 And I came here because I had a bit of a stroke and so I needed some movement.

01:44 So I was thinking of dancing but I didn't have that and I was referred to this place, informal gym and I thought that's just the thing for me.
