Portsmouth Health Club rejuvenated following refurbishment

00:00 So Richard, the refurb is going for OK at the Health and Fitness Club. What has changed

00:05 for members?

00:06 Yeah, a lot of, we've put in new equipment, we've spent a lot of money, over £3 million,

00:11 you know, putting all new equipment in there. We changed the changing rooms. The changing

00:15 room used to be upstairs, we brought it downstairs, which is more accessible for accessible users

00:20 and also closer to the pool, which is easier. Loads of new beds, we changed a whole brand

00:25 new steam room, sauna, everything is pretty much being newly done. There's a brand new

00:31 changing facilities, brand new gym and so on. And we've put in two new studios as well,

00:37 with a separate immersive studio for our spin, which is also going pretty well. It increased

00:42 our membership quite well.

00:43 How have the members found the changes, or feedback you've been giving them?

00:49 Yeah, with most places, they were quite really happy with the equipment and everything else.

00:55 Then, changing rooms, ladies want more stuff as always, you know, they want straighteners

01:02 and things like that, which we're looking to do in the very near future. But yeah, they've

01:07 all been very welcoming, they've all been praises. With all our studios, they've been

01:11 really, really happy with our studios, with the equipment, absolutely brilliant with the

01:16 equipment. So yeah, so far, so good. Nothing is just hair straighteners I need to get,

01:21 as you know, some of these members have been around for a while and they feel like they

01:27 own the place and therefore they want to be at home away from home.

01:31 So guys, you've recently become members at the studio here, how have you found it?

01:35 Oh yeah, it's been good here mate, lovely, lovely. Met loads of nice people here.

01:40 What about the facilities, what have you thought of it?

01:43 Oh yeah, the facilities, fantastic. Upstairs, loads of good stuff to work out on, like swimming,

01:49 sauna, yeah perfect around here to be honest with you.

01:53 Yeah, I go down to the beach every morning first before I come here, do my only morning

01:58 cold swim and then come here for six o'clock and then do my swim, steam sauna, jacuzzi,

02:04 look after Eddie.

02:05 Yeah, good time to meet.

02:07 So guys, you're both members here at DGM, how have you found it so far?

02:13 Yeah, I really enjoy it, it's a great gym, the facilities are perfect, everyone's really

02:20 friendly and I really enjoy it.

02:23 I can say the same really, ever since they had the refurb, yeah the equipment has been

02:28 top quality. It took a little while, I was impatient but it was worth it in the end and

02:33 as well as the gym floor which I use mainly, they have so many facilities. They've got

02:37 the swimming pool, they've got the sauna, they've got just the entire benefit of the

02:42 health club and you definitely get the value, your money's worth.

02:47 You said it was your second home Joe, so you're glad that they've made all the renovation

02:50 changes?

02:51 Oh 100%, 100%. Yeah, the equipment before it did the job and there was probably a slightly

02:58 more variety of it before the refurb but yeah the quality of it right now is just so much

03:03 better. The actual setting of the gym floor, it looks just pristine, it's a fantastic place

03:10 to just be all the time really.

03:12 And Jane you said you visit this club like five or six times a week, what makes you keep

03:17 coming back so much?

03:18 Similar to Joe, the refurb has been amazing and it just looks so welcoming and it's so

03:19 open and the layout of the gym's perfect. I think you're always going to get on a piece

03:20 of equipment as well, I think. Sometimes I come as I have to work so it's quite quiet

03:21 then as well. I really enjoy it, I like the spa, it's my favourite, swimming pool and

03:22 sauna, so yeah, it's nice to chill out.
