UnitedHealth Group confirmed it paid a ransom to cyber threat actors following a February cyberattack on its subsidiary Change Healthcare. The company disclosed that files containing protected health information and personal data were accessed in the breach. Approximately 22 screenshots of compromised files have appeared online so far. UnitedHealth has launched resources for concerned patients, including free credit monitoring for 2 years. The fallout has disrupted doctors, pharmacies, and medical billing across the healthcare sector.
