We are dealing with more heavy rainfall just surging its way on northward.
00:04
So this is probably what's capturing your eye. Plenty of wet weather from Charleston,
00:08
South West Virginia right into western Pennsylvania including that area of Pittsburgh.
00:13
And we're still seeing more of that rain stream right overhead. Some thunderstorms
00:17
embedded within the heaviest rainfall. You can see there are not only a lot of flash flood
00:21
warnings at this point in time but there is also this flash flood emergency which lasts until
00:27
midnight there just west of Pittsburgh. So we are dealing with that. There's already a lot of
00:33
reports ongoing around the city of flooding going on. So there's Pittsburgh and you can just see
00:39
Interstate 376 there at the split with the business. 376 is flooded so everything closed
00:44
on that area. And not too far away from this area by the way is the Pittsburgh International Airport.
00:50
So for those trying to travel out there tonight you're going to encounter water on roadways where
00:54
you would not expect it. And that is something that you need to use some extra caution for. We
00:58
do have a flooding watch box in place here for much of this region. And we also have some more
01:04
flooding concerns into New Hampshire and Maine where we'll get more rain on top of snow. Just
01:09
keep in mind that that flash flood emergency is a whole different level there. And it's used for
01:13
where we either already have extreme flooding ongoing that is life-threatening or it will be
01:18
coming shortly. And we do have it ongoing because people are stuck in homes unfortunately, stuck in
01:23
businesses and they just can't go anywhere at this point in time. We talk about water and water rises
01:29
pretty quickly. It only takes a couple of inches to sweep you off your feet. Of course six inches
01:33
can also carry away certain cars and vehicles. And then 12 inches well it can actually make your
01:38
car float. So it really quickly you can encounter some of that dangerous weather.
01:43
Rain moving over the northeast and New England as we head through tonight. Thursday night will be a
01:48
pretty wet one for many. And then the heaviest rain will start to move out Friday morning from
01:53
places like Boston, Providence and it moves through Maine as we go throughout the later
01:57
morning midday time frame. Your Friday does look to be a little wet in Buffalo. At least some
02:02
showers lingering. There's going to be more rain wrapping around in Columbus. Even a few
02:05
thunderstorms possible in Charleston. And keep in mind with this whole storm system there's a lot of
02:10
wind too. So that can add to power outages. If you have really soggy ground you put some wind in it
02:15
and all of a sudden those trees just cannot withstand this setup. Rainfall continues tonight.
02:20
You can see a lot of that heavy rain starting to lift northward. So tomorrow afternoon we do get
02:24
some breaks here as that heavier rain starts to, some showers I should say, work their way back
02:29
into western Pennsylvania and New York.
