00:00 The scenes in Alice Springs yesterday were horrific, unacceptable and we never want to

00:05 see anything like that again in the Northern Territory.

00:09 My Government will declare an emergency situation in Alice Springs.

00:13 That means police will have the power to enforce a curfew in the Alice Springs CBD for people

00:19 who are 18 years and younger.

00:22 I'm fed up with this appalling level of crime and anti-social behaviour.

00:26 The community has had enough and so have I.

00:30 That's why we're working with police to introduce a curfew in Alice Springs CBD.

00:36 The Territory Safety Division are in Alice Springs now.

00:39 The TSD, the Territory Safety Division, will remain in Alice Springs for the foreseeable

00:44 future.

00:45 This is why we're sending an additional 58 police officers to Alice Springs and they

00:50 will be leaving as soon as possible.

00:53 I'll also travel to Alice Springs tomorrow morning with the Minister for Police.
