00:00 All right, finally, let's get to this quick.
00:01 We got about a minute to go.
00:03 Athletes in Canada, Wayne Gretzky, Conor McDavid,
00:06 no longer can be part of the sports betting ads.
00:10 Why did this go into effect?
00:11 And when does it go into effect?
00:14 - Well, it went into effect on February 28th.
00:16 So it is now effective.
00:17 The rules came out last August.
00:19 And look, everybody is worried about the influence
00:21 that celebrities, athletes, what have you,
00:24 will have on bettors,
00:25 especially on children who are not yet betting.
00:29 You see kids saying, "Yo, I would bet at this sports book.
00:31 "I would bet at that sports book."
00:32 Because they have this guy or that guy.
00:35 Now, what's interesting is there is technically a carve-out
00:38 that will still let these athletes and celebrities
00:40 appear in sports book ads,
00:43 but it's only if those ads are slanted
00:45 toward responsible gaming.
00:47 So you could still have a Conor McDavid saying,
00:49 "Hey, bet responsibly on TV in Ontario."
00:51 And that's totally fine.
00:53 What you can't do is say, "Hey, come and bet with us."
00:56 So it's a fine line, but it is a line.
00:59 And hopefully they start to see
01:01 that that is improving responsible gambling in Ontario.
