00:00 All right, so the next two players are in a little bit of a pickle, I think here.
00:06 Now, Matt Chapman's a really good player, but at this point, some teams are filling
00:11 up their rosters.
00:12 And needless to say, he's a great defender, probably the best defender at his position
00:18 in the American League last year.
00:21 But at this point, Matt, he is the one for me that, look, I can't speak to this, but
00:26 if I'm him, get me on a team.
00:30 He may go, to me, Matt, go the route of Bellinger did last year, do your one-year deal, and
00:34 then go back out on the market.
00:36 That I could see happening.
00:37 I know he probably has got to be disappointed, thinking the Giants or some other team was
00:41 going to give him a long-term deal.
00:42 I mean, everyone thinks that the Bellinger situation is very similar to Chapman.
00:45 Everyone thinks he's going to be on San Francisco.
00:47 It's just a matter of time.
00:49 Yeah, no, that's how I always felt, too.
00:51 And I think you're right.
00:53 Multi-years would have been great, but after you hit the way Matt Chapman hit last year,
00:58 it might be one-year prove-it deal time.
01:01 And you never know sometimes with these guys, what they view.
01:04 I think fans love to talk about, oh, the park, that's a bad hitter's park.
01:09 I think the guys are just like, you know what, I'll go there, I'll hit, I'm good enough,
01:12 I'll make it work.
01:15 But on a one-year prove-it deal, that might not be the optimal place to go.
01:18 But obviously, if you go, you have a good year, you play great defense, like you said,
01:21 and the team wins, then that's going to do more for you than five extra homers at maybe
01:27 a "better hitter's park."
01:29 So I don't think the options are as plentiful for him as maybe some of the other guys we
01:35 mentioned.
01:36 But if it is down to a one-year deal, then all of a sudden the market opens up a bit.
01:40 And who knows what team then is looking for him.
01:44 In-field defense, fans don't necessarily emphasize that as much when they talk about a team.
01:50 We tend to look at lineups.
01:51 We tend to look at rotations.
01:53 But in-field defense is important, of course it is.
01:55 And for a guy like that, he can have an impact on any team, especially a team with a lot
01:59 of ground ball pitchers.
02:00 So he'll be an interesting one to watch over the next couple weeks, too.
02:04 But like you said, I do think it'll probably be a one-year prove-it deal at this point.
02:08 Maybe with an option.
02:09 But I think his options are drying up a little bit.
