00:08 And what that is, is obviously with the PAC-12

00:11 basically going away for now or whatever's gonna happen,

00:15 they had to kick it back down to five

00:17 automatic conference champion qualifiers

00:21 and seven at large bids, as they say,

00:24 as opposed to the six plus six.

00:26 The interesting thing, Gabe, that I saw

00:29 just from in the last hour, is a lot of Notre Dame people,

00:33 which I follow a lot and I read a lot

00:35 because I'm a Notre Dame fan, very upset

00:39 because the wording that is in there

00:42 is the four highest ranked conference champions

00:46 get the bye in the new 12 team playoff.

00:49 And because Notre Dame is an independent,

00:53 they cannot get a bye into the playoff.

00:56 Very interesting, Gabe.

00:57 And I don't have a problem with it either.

00:59 - Listen, the college football playoff committee,

01:02 they were kind of put in a weird spot

01:04 after announcing a format

01:05 and then having the PAC-12 disintegrate as it did.

01:09 So they had to adjust on the fly.

01:11 I think they did a pretty good job actually.

01:14 For the record, for this, Carver, all right?

01:17 I wasn't somebody that was complaining.

01:19 So, okay, you haven't expanded playoff format now,

01:22 good for you.

01:23 So now we're gonna get to see Liberty get lit up

01:25 in a college football playoff game

01:27 and get eliminated.

01:28 It doesn't change anything for the real powers that be.

01:31 You'll notice how they set that up that way.

01:34 It was like, yeah, knock yourself out.

01:35 You guys wanna add games.

01:36 We're not playing more, right?

01:38 We're not playing.

01:40 You can play if you want.

01:41 So go play your little quarter final on your campus, guys,

01:44 at Tulane or whatever, and have fun with that.

01:47 So the top four teams get a bye.

01:50 So therefore, they'll be in the exact same situation.

01:53 They'll just need to win two games, right?

01:56 So when we hear expanded playoff,

01:58 so if you're the SEC champ, you're the Big 10 champ,

02:02 if anything, this actually elevates a lot

02:05 because really it's all about the Big 10

02:07 and the SEC right now.

02:09 I find it interesting though, as you stated,

02:12 so the top four teams get the bye

02:14 and then everybody else plays

02:16 and it goes according to the college football

02:18 playoff rankings.

02:20 So they're gonna be in complete control of this.

02:24 Where I'm going with this, Carver,

02:25 is for everybody that thought naively

02:28 that the college football playoff

02:30 was gonna be some big all-inclusive party,

02:34 get ready, man.

02:35 It's gonna be four Big 10 teams, four SEC teams,

02:40 and they'll be like, "All right, since you won the ACC,

02:42 "we don't have a choice, we'll let you in."

02:44 I'm telling you, Penn State's gonna get in,

02:46 Mississippi's gonna get in, LSU.

02:48 The new, you know what I mean, Carver?

02:50 Penn State can beat everybody

02:52 except Ohio State and Michigan.

02:53 That'll be good enough now, bro.

02:55 Two losses will get you in.
