A woman who went travelling in Europe to get over heartbreak married a Parisian bartender she met on day one – after they fell in love flirting over Google Translate.

Erin Tridle, 32, originally from Chicago, Illinois, US, ventured to Europe in the summer of 2019 - starting her trip in Paris, France - after getting her heart broken.

She met a barman, Jordan, 27, on her second day of her trip and the pair hit it off engrossed in conversation about how "different" both their lives were.

00:00 My wedding photos are in front of the Eiffel Tower, you know what I mean?
00:02 We always say it's the second best day of our lives,
00:05 the first best day being the day we met each other.
00:08 My name is Erin Tridle, I am 32 years old,
00:17 and I am originally from the US, Chicago, and then later LA,
00:21 but now I live in Paris.
00:23 I decided to stay at a hostel in Paris that had been recommended to me three years prior,
00:28 and I fell asleep for the first day.
00:31 I woke up really jet-lagged around 3 p.m., that's when the rooftop bar opened,
00:36 and I got up there and immediately was met by the French bartender, my now husband,
00:42 asking me if I wanted a drink and very quickly taking a lot of breaks to talk to me.
00:47 And then later that night we ended up hanging out.
00:51 We went down to the canals in Paris and sat on a bench until 4 a.m.,
00:56 just talking over broken English and Google Translate.
01:00 We did the best we could, and we did pretty well because we had our first kiss.
01:04 Into the second day of us knowing each other, this is less than 36 hours.
01:09 Essentially, he surprised me with a giant hotel room with a balcony
01:14 overlooking all of Paris and red roses and white wine, my favorite wine,
01:19 and I was really impressed.
01:21 This hadn't even been 36 hours.
01:24 And then I was supposed to get on a flight to Milan, and he basically—
01:28 I was sobbing, and he turned to me and he said, "I love you.
01:32 I want you to be my girlfriend," and I said, "I love you" back,
01:35 and it just snowballed from there, and we've been together ever since.
01:38 So yes, we got together in less than 36 hours,
01:42 but lockdown was really hard, especially because there were a solid nine months
01:48 where we did not know when we were going to see each other.
01:52 That was really difficult. The not knowing was the worst part.
01:55 Not seeing each other was terrible, but had I known there was an end date,
01:59 I would have just started marking days on a calendar.
02:02 Like, we knew that we were strong, our relationship was strong,
02:06 and there was nothing that was going to break it down.
02:08 The wedding day was fabulous. It was literally perfect.
02:11 It was beautiful. All of our family was there.
02:15 His mother and brother and all of his, like, childhood friends were there,
02:19 and my three closest friends from LA were there, as well as my closest family.
02:23 So it was absolutely perfect. We took pictures in front of the Eiffel Tower.
02:27 I mean, I got to—my wedding photos are in front of the Eiffel Tower.
02:31 You know what I mean? Like, it was fabulous.
02:34 We always say it's the second best day of our lives,
02:36 the first best day being the day we met each other.
02:40 I think the future holds so much for us.
02:42 I think there's so much opportunity and wonder in front of us.
02:46 I mean, I think the thing I'm most excited for is traveling the world with my best friend.
02:51 I mean, we live for seeing new places.
02:55 I mean, obviously, that's how we met.
02:58 He wanted to go to Australia. That's the only reason he was in Paris.
03:01 And I wanted to go see a part of Spain, and that's the only reason I was in Paris.
03:04 So travel, see the world, experience new things together.
03:09 I think that's what I am most excited about.
03:11 But I just think the future can hold a lot for us.
03:16 I think it's going to have a whole lot.
