Credit: SWNS   A great-grandmother will be cooking her entire Christmas dinner in an air fryer this year because its 'cheaper, easier - and makes the best ever roast potatoes'.  Beverley Jarvis, 74, is a cooking a festive three-course meal for eight using her Instant Vortex Plus machine.  An air fryer expert, she hopes to convert the nation - and has already had the backing of Great British Bake Off star Prue Leith.  Beverley, from Ashford Kent, started using the kitchen gadget after her son bought her one - and quickly fell in love.  She's now the author of the Everyday Air Fryer Cookbook - and is putting her skills to the test on Christmas Day.

00:00My name is Beverly Jarvis, and I'm a great fan of air fryer cookery. I think particularly

00:10in this day and age when cooking is quite expensive, do you know that a normal domestic

00:16oven costs just about a pound to run? Whereas the air fryer is three and a half times cheaper,

00:23it costs 17p per hour to run. And also, there's very little preheating with an air fryer.

00:30Two to three minutes is fine for them to reach temperature. Also, they're a very clean method

00:36of cooking. You don't get splatters all over the work surface. Probably the top tip is

00:42roast potatoes. If you pre-boil them for 11 minutes, drain them, shake them in the pan

00:49like you would if you were going to cook them conventionally. I add a teaspoon of

00:54semolina, salt and pepper, two teaspoons of duck fat, and a tablespoon of olive oil. They

01:01go in the air fryer at 180 for 35 minutes, and the results speak for themselves. So in

01:09my opinion, there is no better way to cook your Christmas dinner than in the air fryer.
