00:00 Bharatiya Janata Party's National President J.P.
00:04 Nadda's tenure has been extended for four months until June 2024.
00:10 The decision, announced by Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Sunday, was approved by the party's
00:15 National Council.
00:16 Amit Shah revealed that Nadda has been granted the authority to make important decisions
00:21 independently.
00:22 However, these decisions will be subject to later approval by the Saffron Party's Parliamentary
00:27 Board.
00:28 J.P. Nadda, who took charge as the BJP working president in 2019 and assumed the full-time
00:33 party presidency in 2020, has been a key figure in the party's recent successes.
00:38 Amit Shah attributed the party's high strike rate in Bihar and the NDA's electoral victories
00:43 in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh and Gujarat to Nadda's leadership.
00:47 He said, "Under Nadda's leadership, we had the highest strike rate in Bihar, the NDA
00:52 won a majority in Maharashtra, won in Uttar Pradesh and our numbers increased in West
00:56 Bengal.
00:57 We also registered a landslide victory in Gujarat."
01:00 On Saturday, J.P. Nadda reiterated Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for winning 400 seats.
01:05 He expressed confidence in the strengths and capabilities of party workers, urging them
01:09 to focus on strengthening party booths to achieve their ambitious goal.
01:13 He said, "I have a firm belief in the strengths and capabilities of our karyakattas.
01:18 We have to make our booths stronger and stronger.
01:21 We must put all our energies into ensuring that we cross 370 seats and the NDA crosses
01:27 400."
01:28 In other political developments, J.P. Nadda's extension comes just days after he, along
01:33 with Ashok Chavan, Ashwini Vaishnav, Sudhanshu Trivedi and L. Murugan were nominated to the
01:38 Rajya Sabha on February 15.
01:40 Notably, Nadda was nominated from Gujarat, replacing Union Ministers Parshottam Rupala
01:45 and Mansukh Mandavia.
01:47 The party is likely to field Rupala and Mandavia for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls.
01:51 Additionally, the BJP has fielded Jashwant Singh Parmar, Mayank Nayak and Diamond Baron
01:57 Govind Dholakia from Gujarat.
01:59 Several senior BJP leaders and outgoing Rajya Sabha MPs, including Union Ministers such
02:04 as Dharmendra Pradhan and Bhupendra Yadav, have not been re-nominated for the Rajya Sabha
02:08 elections, possibly indicating their intent to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
