In a fiery political escalation, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt took direct aim at Zohran Mamdani — the presumptive Democratic frontrunner in the New York City mayoral race — accusing him of embodying “radical” left-wing ideals. Labeling Democrats as “doubling down on craziness,” Leavitt claimed Mamdani's policies threaten the “very fabric of the country.”

The attack reflects growing Republican unease with Mamdani’s rising influence, particularly after his viral interview clip showed him eating biryani with his hands while championing Third World-inspired politics. With his open support for Palestine, socialism, and progressive reform, Mamdani has drawn praise and vitriol in equal measure. As Trump’s White House attempts to frame the 2025 elections as a choice between order and chaos, Mamdani is emerging as a lightning rod in the cultural and political battlefield. The clash signals a deeper national confrontation brewing around race, identity, and radicalism.

00:00Does President Trump want Zoran Mamdani deported?
00:04I haven't heard him say that.
00:06I haven't heard him call for that.
00:08But certainly he does not want this individual to be elected.
00:11I was just speaking to him about it and his radical policies
00:14that will completely crush New York City.
00:18Mamdani could have misrepresented or concealed material support for terrorism
00:24based on rap lyrics he wrote in 2017.
00:27Does President Trump think this is a worthwhile use of the Attorney General's time?
00:32Well, I'll let the President speak to that.
00:34I have not seen those claims.
00:35But surely, if they are true, it's something that should be investigated.
00:38Zoran Mamdani.
00:40He's a Democrat socialist, really a communist,
00:43who proudly calls to defund the police,
00:46peddles anti-Semitism,
00:48praises pro-Hamas groups,
00:50wants Israel abolished,
00:52and believes wealthy Americans should not exist.
00:55Those are his words, just as recent as this weekend.
00:58Thank you, Caroline.
00:59Does President Trump want Zoran Mamdani deported?
01:03I haven't heard him say that.
01:05I haven't heard him call for that.
01:06But certainly he does not want this individual to be elected.
01:10I was just speaking to him about it and his radical policies
01:13that will completely crush New York City,
01:16which is obviously a city that the President holds near and dear to his heart.
01:20There's this Congressman, Andy Ogles,
01:22who wants the Attorney General Bondi to explore denaturalization proceedings
01:26because he thinks Mamdani could have misrepresented
01:29or concealed material support for terrorism
01:32based on rap lyrics he wrote in 2017.
01:36Does President Trump think this is a worthwhile use of the Attorney General's time?
01:40Well, I'll let the President speak to that.
01:42I have not seen those claims.
01:43But surely, if they are true, it's something that should be investigated.
01:46And could President Trump see himself — you said you just talked to him about this.
01:50Could he see himself working with a mayor, Mamdani,
01:54somebody who, on Meet the Press this weekend,
01:56was given three chances to condemn the phrase
01:59globalize the intifada, but he couldn't?
02:02Yeah, look, the President is always willing to work with everyone.
02:05He's working with Democrats across the country, Democrat governors.
02:10And he said he'll work with people on the far left.
02:13He works with Republicans. He works with people in the middle.
02:15He wants to do what's right for America.
02:17But surely someone who holds these values
02:19and is quite literally a communist
02:21and condemns every value that makes this country great —
02:24common sense, law and order, low taxes, working hard,
02:28and earning your keep in this country —
02:30he's against all of that.
02:31And I think the President would find it difficult
02:33to work with someone like that if he is elected.
02:36I'm sure you'll hear more from the President on that.
02:38But we'll have to see, hopefully, the voters of New York City choose wisely.
02:42Democrats are doubling down on craziness and radical policies
02:45that are undermining the very fabric of our country.
02:49Just look at the Democrat nominee for New York City mayor, Zoran Mindhami.
02:53He's a Democrat socialist, really a communist,
02:56who proudly calls to defund the police,
02:59peddles anti-Semitism, praises pro-Hamas groups,
03:03wants Israel abolished, and believes wealthy Americans should not exist.
03:08Those are his words, just as recent as this weekend.
03:11Meanwhile, under President Trump's leadership,
03:13Republicans are fighting tirelessly for everyday,
03:16middle-class, working Americans who re-elected this President.
03:19And we're carrying out a revolution of common sense.
03:22And all of that is packed into this one big, beautiful bill.
