We joined NATO because of our national security. It was first and foremost about
00:08
our security. You'd realize when Russia attacked Ukraine that we cannot cope
00:14
alone. We needed to be part of the most powerful defense alliance in the world
00:19
which is NATO. But we are not only defense consumers, Finland is also
00:25
defense and security contributor. So we will work within the whole alliance
00:31
throughout the alliance region in order to provide more security. We have
00:37
invested in our own military capabilities. We have reached the 2%
00:42
criteria already quite some time ago. So I believe having Finland and very soon
00:49
Sweden also in the alliance, it would make NATO stronger. And let me
00:55
underline that for us the decision to join NATO, it wasn't directed against
01:02
anyone. NATO is not threatening anyone and certainly Finland within NATO is not
01:09
threatening anyone. This is about security and our defense capabilities
01:13
and about the collective defense agreement.
