People of Glasgow share their favourite Christmas present and what they’re hoping to receive in 2023

We went down to Argyle Street in Glasgow city centre to ask Glaswegians what they’d like for Christmas this year.

00:08 Well it might seem surprising, I don't really want anything this year. I'm content with what I've got.

00:46 The best present I've ever had?

00:47 Well that would go right back to when my parents were alive, you know,

00:52 and we'd have Christmas dinner and you know as a child. I remember I kind of

00:57 didn't believe in Santa for a few extra years in case I wouldn't get any presents.

01:01 My sister got me like this massive crystal singing bowl and it just like, you like

01:09 bong it and it goes 'whoa'.

01:10 I've just got a divorce last year, last Christmas.

01:13 You've just got a divorce?

01:14 Yeah.

01:14 So you've got a new partner now?

01:15 I've got a new partner but she's not ready for white material yet.

01:18 We'll see what she's like for cooking Christmas dinner this year,

01:20 if she passes muster.

01:22 And then what I'm getting this year, getting like a casting set to make silver jewellery,

01:29 so that'll be at the stall.

01:30 If she can cook a Christmas dinner, there's a chance.

01:33 Did you ask what we want this year for Christmas?

01:35 Yeah.

01:36 Oh I'm getting a 18-inch shamanic drum.

01:42 And I used to wonder how Santa would come down the chimney because I go right back to when we

01:45 did have cold fires, you know, and I said 'how do you get down there? I better pretend I still

01:50 believe in Santa in case I don't, you devious person'. So those are the kind of happy times.

02:01 Life goes on and you just have to adjust to whatever's happening, you know. It goes by

02:08 very quick. So you're a young lady so enjoy each day because you might say 'I've got years

02:14 ahead of me' but nobody really knows.

02:17 I'm starting women's circles in Dumfries and Galloway, so it's a good thing to have for

02:22 meditation, sorry, for meditation or for drum circles.
