Umbrellas and snow shovels will come in handy across the Northeast into the new week as a large storm moves through with spells of rain and wintry precipitation.
Transcript
00:00 I'm meteorologist Michele McLeod bringing you the forecast for the Northeast.
00:09 Here's a story you need to know.
00:10 There are two things you need to know right off the top.
00:13 Into Sunday night, we're going to get rain and snow.
00:15 That's going to spread.
00:16 I have two systems making their way through and it's going to bring a wintry mess depending
00:20 on where you live.
00:21 Now, when it comes to snow totals, here's who's really giving in on the big snow.
00:26 You see places like Montreal and then the Green and White Mountains of New Hampshire
00:32 and Vermont and into Maine.
00:34 You're seeing about 6 to 12 inches with an AccuWeather local storm max of 24 inches.
00:40 But this snow is going to extend all the way from Michigan and the UP of Michigan through
00:45 Maine and through into Nova Scotia.
00:49 It's a large area that's getting in on that wintry precipitation.
00:52 Now, in the morning, Sunday morning, Saturday day, however you want to slice it, you're
00:57 going to be waking up to those temperatures on the downtrend.
01:00 This is going to help make those snowy conditions.
01:03 So you'll see temps in the 30s as you head to like northern New York and northern New
01:07 England and even in Michigan.
01:09 So I really hope that you enjoyed your Saturday because the air was nice and mild.
01:15 Now, as you get into Sunday, here it is.
01:19 Here's that stripe of wintry precipitation.
01:21 You can see it in places like Grand Rapids and Michigan, even Wisconsin and northern
01:26 Illinois.
01:27 Getting in on that?
01:28 Yeah.
01:29 And then as you head farther east, you're going to see northern New York and northern
01:33 New England getting in on some of this.
01:35 Monday, here it is.
01:36 Those two systems are going to continue to make their way farther east.
01:39 We're going to continue to see some more of that wintry precipitation.
01:43 That's why you're getting in on that two feet.
01:45 Watch how these systems interact with each other.
01:47 They're going to start to do an anti-cyclonic flow, which is going to funnel in that cold
01:51 air from the north, helping to exacerbate the snow.
01:54 Look at that.
01:55 So you're seeing it.
01:56 It's rain and snow and then it changing over to snow over a two day period.
02:02 Well, we're not done with it yet.
02:04 See?
02:05 You're seeing it again.
02:06 This is Monday at 10 p.m.
02:07 Monday night.
02:09 And so if you didn't see it before, I'll show it to you again.
02:12 Getting six to 12 inches in the places of the dark blue with an AccuWeather Local Storm
02:16 X of 24 inches.
02:18 And if you thought we were done with it Monday, well, Tuesday we have another system on the
02:22 way bringing more wintry weather.
02:24 Thanks for watching.
02:25 I'm Mike Pearson.
02:26 I'll see you next time.
