Alexandra Palace welcomes the World Dart Championships and other Christmas events

The World Dart Championships will be held at Alexandra Palace in December. The iconic north London venue will also be hosting festive themed events too.

00:05 in the capital. This place, tucked between Wood Green and Muswell Hill in North London,

00:11 hosts everything from art exhibitions to sporting events and can hold just over 10,000 people.

00:19 As well as being home to musicians and comics, the Alley Pally is becoming increasingly famous

00:24 for hosting the snooker and the darts. And in fact, the world championships are taking

00:30 place at Alexandra Palace from December 15th through to January. Those looking to go can

00:39 join a waiting list on Alexandra Palace's website, although it does appear to be sold

00:44 out at the moment. Tickets do range from £44 in the earlier stages of the competition to

00:50 over £80 for tickets in the later stages. The iconic dance anthem and just the sheer

00:57 increasing popularity of the sport over recent years means this place will be packed full

01:02 of pint-drinking punters in fancy dress, watching the best players from across the globe battle

01:07 it out for the best part of £2.5 million worth of prize money that is shared out between

01:14 all of the players. Several darters have won the championships once or twice. One of the

01:19 favourites, Michael Van Gerwen, is one of a few players who has taken the title three

01:24 times. But perhaps one of the most famous players of all time, who is now retired, Phil

01:29 'The Power' Taylor, has won the dart championships 14 times. Now if watching people throw stuff

01:36 at a dartboard isn't for you, that's fine. Alexandra Palace has many festive themed events

01:41 lined up, including a Santa's Grotto and Christmas ice skating discos. It's also one of the best
