Transcript
00:00 >> Okay, I got a couple of things, changing gears.
00:03 Will there be an order to lower flags
00:04 to have staff to mark Mrs. Carter's passing?
00:07 And is the President planning on attending her funeral?
00:10 >> So, let me just say at the top,
00:11 I know you heard from the President
00:12 and the First Lady yesterday
00:14 on the passing of the former First Lady.
00:16 I just want to say, certainly,
00:18 that their thoughts are with President Carter
00:21 and the entire Carter family. As the President said yesterday,
00:24 Jimmy and Rosalyn Carter have been dear, long-time friends.
00:28 And Rosalyn Carter was an extraordinary,
00:30 extraordinary First Lady.
00:32 She was a champion for equal rights
00:34 and opportunities for women and girls,
00:36 an advocate for mental health and wellness for every person,
00:39 and a supporter of the often unseen,
00:42 uncompensated caregivers of our children,
00:45 aging loved ones, and people with disabilities.
00:48 The President and the First Lady are thinking of her and of him
00:53 and keeping the Carter family in their prayers today,
00:57 as well. As it relates to any potential travel,
01:01 the President and the First Lady plan to pay respects
01:06 to the former First Lady.
01:07 Don't have anything to share at this time on details
01:10 or anything to confirm just yet.
01:12 But certainly, as we have information
01:14 or more details to share,
01:15 we certainly will share that with all of you.
01:18 And as it relates to the lowered --
01:20 to have the flag being lowered to have staff,
01:24 yes, we will certainly do that.
01:26 And we certainly will follow --
01:28 and we'll do that in accordance to --
01:30 with protocols and details of when and how long
01:34 that will happen. We certainly will share
01:36 that at an appropriate time.
