Transcript
00:00The senator from Mississippi.
00:02I object to the senator's motion to strike the provision establishing a common-sense protection of taxpayers' dollars
00:08by prohibiting abortion providers from receiving Medicaid funds for one year.
00:13There was a time when protecting American tax dollars from supporting the abortion industry
00:18was an uncontroversial, nonpartisan effort that we could all get behind.
00:24Even if we had opposing views on protecting the dignity of human life,
00:28this provision does not target any one entity.
00:32If a medical provider wishes to stay within the Medicaid program,
00:35it should simply cut elective abortion procedures from its services.
00:40Mr. President, the pending amendment number 2771 would cause the underlying legislation to exceed
00:47the Finance Committee Section 302A allocations of the new budget authority and outlays.
00:53Therefore, I raise a point of order against this measure pursuant to Section 302F
00:58of the Congressional Budget Act of 1974.
