Azkals, sisimulan ang 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers vs. Vietnam
Transcript
00:00 The Philippine Ascals will play Vietnam in the Rizal Memorial Stadium
00:04 as the start of their campaign for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers.
00:09 This is what Daryl O'Clarence of PTV Sports has to say.
00:12 The Philippine Ascals and Vietnam National Football Team
00:18 will face off on Thursday night for the second round of the
00:21 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in the Rizal Memorial Stadium.
00:25 But before the match begins,
00:27 the Ascals head coach Michael Vise and team captain Niel Ettridge
00:32 will face off in a pre-match press conference on Wednesday.
00:35 According to Vise, the home court advantage is a big plus
00:39 but it also causes pressure not only for the opponent but also for the home team.
00:44 Despite this, Vise is confident that the Ascals will repay the support
00:48 given by the Filipinos through a good game against Vietnam.
00:54 We are working to get back the trust of the people with the top performance.
00:57 Whether that is enough for a win or a draw or whatever we will see.
01:00 But we will be there, that's for sure.
01:02 This is also what Ettridge said about the expectations of the football fans.
01:08 As a veteran player, he gave advice to his fellow Ascals
01:13 who are playing for a big crowd for the first time.
01:16 I've said to them sometimes, be careful what you wish for
01:18 because it's a very intimidating place to come and play.
01:21 So that's a place that we want to really pack out tomorrow
01:27 and we want to give the best performance that we possibly can.
01:30 After their match in Vietnam,
01:32 the Ascals will face off against Indonesia in the Lissan Memorial Stadium on November 21.
01:38 Daryl O'Claris for the nation.
