00:00Torrential rains that fell over the weekend led to a forceful surge of water that collapsed a wall in Navota City
00:07and immediately left houses and dwellings in and around the area underwater and in complete disrepair.
00:14The wall of sandbags put in place did not last long and sustained a breach that kept surging water and flooding the place.
00:21The Navota City LGU and the private shipping company that built the collapsed wall are working to fix the wall throughout the night
00:28and tomorrow as our Gab Humilde reports.
00:36In this video, you saw the collapse of this wall in Navota City.
00:40A few moments, water started to spurt into several houses.
00:44This happened on a Saturday morning.
00:46To temporarily fix it, the city government of Navotas immediately placed sandbags on the damaged wall to prevent water from entering.
00:53In another video taken yesterday, there was a breach or hole in the sandwall causing water to enter their houses again.
01:00Minda's house was one of those damaged due to the wall collapse on Saturday.
01:05Now, she's afraid to be inside her own house because all of its pillars have cracks.
01:10All of her personal belongings are no longer salvageable.
01:13Ang iniisip na po namin, paano po yung mga nasalantan na gustong, paano makakabangon, at ano po ang assurance na ibibigay nila para sa amin.
01:23Ang kita nyo naman, talo pa namin yung nasunugan.
01:27Ernel, who is another resident, he was immediately woken up by his nephew when he observed that the wall behind their house seemed to be getting heavier.
Yun, nakalabas kami.
01:55Residents of Barangay San Jose in Navotas City are now worried that the wall behind their houses might totally collapse.
02:02According to the residents, they have not yet spoken to the owner of the wall that collapsed since last Saturday.
02:08According to the Navotas LGU, repairs of the navigational gate are ongoing and repairs of the damaged wall can only start during a low tide.
02:16Hindi po tayo nagmamonitor po dyan at in long term security nga po natin dyan ay kailangan na rin pong palitan talaga yung gate.
02:23Dahil 30 years na po yan eh. So kahit ano naman pong kagamitan,
02:28kanyang pag matagal na ay mas madanis yung maintenance, mas mabinis na sisira.
02:37The local government is also in talks with a private shipyard company who owns the collapsed wall.
02:42They are also continuing to provide assistance to the affected residents such as food and clothing.
02:48The city government also plans to relocate the residents living behind the collapsed wall.
