2019 ರ ಲೋಕಸಭಾ ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಮಂಡ್ಯದಿಂದ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧಿಸಿದ್ದ ಸಮಲತಾ ಹಾಗೂ ನಿಖಿಲ್‌ ಕುಮಾರಸ್ವಾಮಿ ನಡುವೆ ತೀವ್ರ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಏರ್ಪಟ್ಟು, ಚುನಾವಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸುಮಲತಾ ಅಂಬರೀಶ್‌ ಗೆಲುವು ಸಾಧಿಸಿದ್ರು. ಆದರೆ, ನಾನು ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರವನ್ನ ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಕೊಡಲ್ಲ, ಮುಂದೆ ಮಂಡ್ಯ ಕ್ಷೇತ್ರದಿಂದಲೇ ಸ್ಪರ್ಧೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತೇನೆ ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದ್ದ ಸುಮಲತಾ ಇದೀಗ ಇಕ್ಕಟ್ಟಿಗೆ ಸಿಲುಕಿದ್ದಾರೆ.In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, there was a fierce competition between Samalatha and Nikhil Kumaraswamy, who contested from Mandya, and Sumalatha Ambarish won the election.
