Today we're at Valley of Fire State Park shooting a story for the magazine. We got four Factory 5 cars

We're gonna take the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and the Dragstrip

We're gonna show you what you can do with a car you can build in your garage

Factory 5 offers kit cars that you can build in your own garage. What makes them cool is you can actually thrash on these cars

It's hard to drive an original Shelby Cobra or original Shelby coupe as hard as you can drive a Factory 5 car

When Dave Smith created the company he looked at the other project cars on the market. They looked great, but they didn't perform

He decided to build kit cars that were better constructed and faster

We just finished up the photo shoot for the magazine and now we're heading to Las Vegas Motor Speedway

Dave Smith threw us the keys to a couple of the cars. So staff editor Brandon Galoglia and I drove him to the track

When people ask me, you know what Factory 5 does I always say well we sell projects and if you think about it guy

Who's gonna build his own car?

We give him the substrate parts

So the chassis the body suspension interior trim pieces lighting basically all the parts of a car except for the running gear

And that's where Summit came in. Summit Racing teamed up with Factory 5 to produce drivetrain packages

So now you can get everything for a project car delivered to your front door with a click of a mouse

First we're taking the cars to the strip to see how they do in the quarter-mile

We brought in our resident race car driver Mike Essa owner of GSR Autosport. He'll be driving the cars today to get accurate numbers

First to bat is ride techs 33 Ford replica. It's powered by a 427 small block that made 510 horsepower to the wheels and

496 foot-pounds of torque. It's got a dart aluminum block and Holley Dominator EFI system with this naturally aspirated horsepower

No hood, no fenders and twelve and a half inch tires on all four corners. This thing is badass

It's the only carbureted car we have today. With a short wheelbase and not much weight in the back

We don't know if the car is going to hook up. Although this car does have more torque than any of the other ones we're testing

On the flip side of that, the Summit Racing 427 Cobra replica had the best 60 foot times but the lowest trap speed at 115 miles per hour

This is a 1.2 mile, 7 turn, intermediate road course with nice long straights and a combination of different corners

We're going to use this as a baseline to determine how our factory 5 cars stack up against the Lamborghini
