Birmingham headlines 29 September: PhD student facing jail for making 'kamikaze' drone for Islamic State
A University of Birmingham PhD student is facing jail after being convicted of making a 'Kamikaze' drone to be used by terror group Islamic State. Mohamad Al-Bared designed the deadly device with an explosive head capable of delivering a bomb or a chemical weapon.

Two more people have been arrested over the fire at The Crooked House. A 34 year-old woman and a 44 year-old man from Leicestershire have been arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent or being reckless as to whether life was endangered.
