00:22 He said his visit showed that several places ran out of local white rice due to insufficient
00:27 supply from the distributor.
00:29 He said the government has been carrying out intervention programmes to address issues
00:33 related to the shortage of local white rice.
00:36 "The last time we received rice was on 21st September.
00:43 We didn't have much left.
00:46 It was sold out quickly.
00:48 Today is 26th September, it's been five days.
00:52 When people come to buy rice from other places, they are forced to buy imported rice which
01:00 is much more expensive.
01:02 If not, the children will be left with nothing to eat."
01:10 He said the authorities have given their operators the assurance that they will intervene and
01:14 ensure local rice sent to the supermarkets in Johor.
01:18 "This is the eighth day of the month since we have carried out this intervention.
01:22 We have delivered 190 metric tonnes of rice to the market.
01:26 We have delivered 60 metric tonnes of rice to the market yesterday and today.
01:32 The rice has been delivered to the whole of Johor yesterday.
01:36 The government has also ordered 103 farmers from all over the country to come to this place
01:46 and deliver rice to their respective areas."
01:49 The government said the supply of local white rice is expected to stabilise within a month
