00:00A couple has been remanded until July 13 in connection with the death of a 15-month-old

00:07baby girl at a shop in Bandar Satellite, Pulau Sebang, Alor Gaja.

00:12The suspects, a 24-year-old woman and her 20-year-old boyfriend, were arrested after

00:17the child, who is the woman's biological daughter, was found unconscious and later pronounced

00:22dead at Tampin Hospital on Sunday night.

00:26Hospital personnel who examined the child reported injuries to her anus as well as

00:31bruises on her abdomen and back, prompting the hospital to file a police report.

00:36The baby was confirmed dead approximately 30 minutes later.

00:41Preliminary investigations revealed that the mother, who is divorced, had brought her only

00:45child from their home in Kampung Anak-Aya Durian Daun, Tampin, to her boyfriend's workplace

00:50around 6.30pm on Sunday.

00:53The man is believed to be employed as a musician at the shop.

00:56According to the mother, she left her daughter in the boyfriend's care while she went out

01:00to buy food.

01:02Upon returning, the couple allegedly spent time together before putting the baby to sleep

01:07at around 10pm.

01:09When the mother tried to wake the child about 30 minutes later, she was unresponsive.

01:14The couple then rushed the baby to the hospital for treatment.

01:18The child's body has been sent to the hospital's forensic unit for a post-mortem to determine

01:23the exact cause of death.

01:25Alor Gaja OCPD Superintendent Ashari Abusama confirmed the remand and said the case is being

01:31investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for Murder.
