A political controversy started when Tamil Nadu Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs and son of Chief Minister, M.K. Stalin, Udayanidhi Stalin said that Sanatana Dharma is like mosquitoes, dengue and malaria, and ""it has to be eradicated"". He was speaking at a Sanatanam (Sanatana Dharma) Abolition Conclave organized by the Tamil Nadu Progressive Writers Forum. After the statement by udhayanidhi, on one hand, Ayodhya's Tapasvi Chhawni Temple head priest, Mahant Paramhans Das, announced a Rs 10 crore bounty for the beheading of Udhayanidhi Stalin over his alleged 'anti-Sanatan Dharma' comment. And on the other hand, A Hindu outfit in Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada put up a poster, offering Rs 10 lakh cash reward for slapping DMK leader Udayanidhi Stalin over his ‘Sanatana Dharma’ remark.
The Jana Jagarana Samiti, a non-profit organization, has announced a Rs 10 lakh cash reward for anyone who slaps DMK leader and Tamil Nadu minister Udayanidhi Stalin for his controversial remarks against Sanatana Dharma.
Let me show you the video where people can be seen putting out posters for a Cash reward of ten lakh rupees for those who slapped Udayanidhi Stalin.
The organization has put up posters in Andhra Pradesh's Vijayawada regarding the same.
The comment resulted in a significant backlash, with the Bharatiya Janata Party accusing Udhayanidhi Stalin of his remark.
Union minister Smriti Irani on Wednesday took a veiled jibe at Udhayanidhi Stalin over his remark on ‘Sanatana Dharma’ that has triggered a massive political slugfest in the country.
“Those who challenge 'Sanatan Dharma', the voice should reach them that till the 'bhakts' are alive, no one can challenge their religion,” PTI quoted the minister telling devotees at the Shri Krishna Janmashtami Celebration event organized by Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan in Delhi.
According to a report by HT, Irani's statement comes in the wake of Prime Minister Narendra Modi asking his cabinet colleagues to ‘fight falsehoods and attacks on issues of faith’.
The ministers have been told to “assertively face falsehoods and attacks against the issues of faith and to put things in the right context and also rely on the provisions of the Constitution that do not allow the denigration of any religion”.
Furthermore, a Twitter was shared on the official account of the BJP state president of Tamil Nadu, K.Annamalai, where a memorandum was shared by the senior BJP leaders of Tamil Nadu to the honorable governor of the state.
I am quoting the Twitter of Annamalai,
1. We sought the intervention of our Hon Governor in filing cases (in line with the Hon Supreme Court’s guidelines) in TN against Thiru Udhayanidhi Stalin for his Hate speech at the Sanatana Eradication conference.
