Leeds United: Who should Daniel Farke target as potential incomings?

00:17 Well, I mean, in terms of players, I think they'll be looking all over.

00:20 I mean, goalkeepers are a big one.

00:22 I think the goalkeeper situation, obviously, a lot of that comes down to Willem Mellier,

00:26 who a lot of people obviously expected to leave the club this summer,

00:28 and that probably may well still happen.

00:30 But as the time of recording, there are no offers for him.

00:32 But, you know, so I think goalkeeper is going to be a key one.

00:36 Left-back looks like a very important one, obviously,

00:38 especially with Werber outgoing and Junior Firpo being injured.

00:42 Remains to be seen, obviously, what happens with that.

00:43 As I say, Sam Byron has been training with the club and can play at left-back or right-back.

00:48 And he looked pretty decent, I thought, on the Monaco friendly when he came on.

00:51 Looked pretty lean, looked in good shape.

00:52 But really, I mean, with Leeds, you're going to be looking all over.

00:54 I mean, they need midfield enforcement.

00:56 So obviously, they've got Ethan Ampadu in.

00:58 He looks like being a decent signing.

00:59 I thought he put in a pretty decent first game for Leeds against Monaco,

01:02 especially in the first half.

01:04 Really, in terms of up front and out wide, especially the wingers' situation

01:07 just depends on who they can keep.

01:09 I mean, because obviously, there's not short of wingers at the moment, Leeds.

01:11 But I mean, is Luis Inisterra going to be around in the Championship?

01:14 What will happen with Uli Nonto, who can obviously play up front or out wide?

01:18 So a lot of Jack Harrison, obviously, as well, although he's injured.

01:20 And then midfield as well.

01:21 A lot of that comes down to what happens with Tyler Adams,

01:23 but he's another one who's injured.

01:24 So, I mean, you really could, like, go all over the park,

01:27 to all extents and purposes with Leeds.

01:29 I think at centre-back, they look reasonably good with Charlie Creswell,

01:32 obviously, having come back, as long as they can keep him.

01:34 But the one I would, like, sort of almost put top of the pile,

01:37 and it remains to be seen what happens with this, is probably a striker.

01:40 Now, with Leeds, obviously, it's always been a debate about how many goals

01:43 they score and whatnot.

01:44 But the fact is Daniel Farker's obviously won promotion twice with Norwich City,

01:47 twice as champions.

01:48 In both of those two seasons, they scored an awful lot of goals.

01:51 And Timo Pukki, 29 the first time they went up, and I think it was 26 the second time.

01:55 So, really, it's not sort of, like, set in stone.

01:58 But if you're going to take the championship by storm and try and get

02:00 an automatic promotion, you're going to need someone who's probably going to get

02:02 20 goals plus.

02:04 And really, at Leeds at the moment, you're looking at a choice out of either

02:06 Patrick Bamford or Giorgino Routier.

02:08 Now, it's not to say those two can't get 20 goals plus, and they might well do so,

02:11 and let's hope so.

02:12 Bamford's done it before.

02:13 Obviously, with him, the question mark is his fitness and his injuries.

02:16 You know, it remains to be seen.

02:17 He's looked in pretty good nick so far in pre-season,

02:19 in terms of fitness point of view.

02:21 And Routier's obviously still very new.

02:22 He does look like he's come back with a spring in his step.

02:25 He's obviously got a huge price tag around his neck.

02:27 Is he a number nine?

02:28 Is he a striker?

02:29 Is he a wide man?

02:29 It remains to be seen.

02:30 I mean, the two players that could well go and do it for Leeds, but I think the

02:33 safest thing for them would be to go and get another striker in as well.

02:36 You can never have too many options.

02:38 You know, go and get a sort of, like, proven number nine who's definitely going

02:40 to score you goals.

02:41 But, Daniel, it's easier said than done.

02:42 You know, players don't grow on trees.

02:44 It's who's available at what price.

02:45 So, that's the sort of thing that could roll on all summer.

02:47 But to me, anyway, and I think to a lot of fans as well, I think a striker looks

02:51 very important to Leeds.
