Do Leeds United have an “over-reliance” on Willy Gnonto?

00:00But I wanted to mention Willie Nonto because you certainly thought he was one of the only

00:05players who looked like even maybe scoring against Blackburn on Saturday, but does that

00:11actually suggest an over-reliance on him?

00:14Because of course, yes, Ramazani has been good this season, but he's only just coming

00:18back from a bit of a mid-term injury.

00:20Obviously, you've had Manasol and we've mentioned him in recent weeks as well, but Willie Nonto

00:24is that established winger as well.

00:26You could argue Dan James to an extent, but he is the one who has been at Leeds for a

00:30little while and has always been in amongst it.

00:34And yes, he's got a lot of contributions towards goal this season so far in terms of goals

00:38and assists, but because of that, is there an over-reliance on him?

00:42Are Leeds heavily dependent on his output and others need to take the book a little

00:47bit more?

00:48I mean, two things are, number one, the display in the game at Blackburn sort of felt like

00:52that and also the stats almost kind of pointed a bit towards that.

00:56What he would say about that is that Solomon, obviously, Dan James, Ramazani as well, now

01:01he's only just come back.

01:02They've not had complete clean runs with injury, unlike Nonto, so he should sort of be slightly

01:07ahead of them.

01:08But he is, I mean, Peru's top on goal contributions with seven of those are goals, seven goals

01:12and two assists.

01:13Well, as we said, when he's on song, he's a brilliant finisher, but as I say, seven

01:16of those are goals.

01:17After that, you know, that's nine, eight goal contributions from Nonto with five assists

01:22and three goals.

01:23And then there's three players on five, Aaronson, Joseph and James and Ramazani on four.

01:27So he's ahead of the pack already on there and it actually feels like when you watch

01:31him that it's probably, it should be a bit more than that because it certainly feels

01:34at the moment like he's the one that's going to make something happen.

01:36And I don't think Leeds are relying on him in terms of like playing through him in terms

01:41of like, you can obviously have some teams where obviously they might have like one massive

01:44star player on like, you know, one side and obviously everything goes down that side sort

01:48of thing, you know, or like a superb number 10 and everything goes through him.

01:51But I don't think it's like that where they're sort of like purposely go for him, but it's

01:54just when he gets the ball, he's the one who looks like something's going to happen.

02:00And basically what it comes down to is you just feel like the others have got to step

02:03up a little bit, particularly away from home.

02:05I mean, you can almost analyse it two ways Leeds at the moment, because obviously at

02:09home they've got several wins on the bounce and are looking very, very good, but away

02:13from home, obviously that's two defeats in three, obviously with the Millwall one sandwiched

02:17by the Swansea game.

02:20And yeah, you just need a little bit more from the front four.

02:22And to be honest, I just wonder whether it's certainly away from home, maybe just trying

02:27something different. And the obvious thing to my eye would be to possibly play Nanto

02:31as a number 10. I mean, I know obviously you'd then lose his threat out wide and you can

02:35sort of, I can see that point, but they're not getting enough from number 10.

02:38And you can't really don't want to and you can't really point the finger on one person.

02:42But Brendan Aronson needs to do much better of his output.

02:44You know, there's no doubt about that.

02:46I mean, Daniel Farker's clearly a massive fan of him at number 10.

02:48It's the only sort of position he didn't change during that week in terms of like swapping

02:52it around. And his running and his energy is never in doubt, you know, but that should

02:56be the minimum for any player, obviously.
