Transcript
00:00 A faster and more comfortable trip. This is what passengers of LRT Line 1 are hoping for in its new train sets.
00:10 And for President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr., this is not only faster, but it will also ensure the safety of passengers.
00:18 Here is the latest news from Kenneth Paciente.
00:24 LRT Line 1 passengers will experience a faster trip starting this month. After the series of safety checks and trial run,
00:32 the public will be able to use the 4th generation light rail vehicles or LRVs.
00:38 This is the latest addition to the 3rd generation train set of LRT Line 1.
00:43 President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. was the first to ride in the inauguration ceremony of the LRVs.
00:49 The President also rode in and inspected the new wagons.
00:54 In the President's message, he emphasized that this is part of the government's commitment
00:58 to provide modern and efficient rail transport systems to commuters.
01:03 In my first State of the Nation address, I emphasize the integral role of infrastructure development
01:09 such as the construction of farm-to-market roads, improvement of our railway systems in our social and economic progress.
01:18 It truly makes me proud to witness the steady realization of our vision of a more developed Philippines
01:24 coming into fruition through our new LRVs which will be used in the existing LRT 1 system and on the LRT 1 extension to Cavite.
01:37 I recognize, of course, the hard work that has been done by the Department of Transportation,
01:43 the Light Rail Transit Authority, and the Light Rail Manila Corporation for working together
01:49 to provide the Filipino people with a safe, reliable, and efficient transportation service.
01:55 The Executive Board also trusted that this is a big contribution to the commuters who use LRT everyday
02:02 and promised to continue the current administration in improving transportation to strengthen mobility in the country.
02:10 We will be able to now aid in easing traffic congestion as well as mitigating air pollution caused by vehicles plying the roads of Metro Manila.
02:21 Equipped with advanced passenger information systems and a new signaling system,
02:27 I am confident that the LRVs will not only improve the overall passenger experience but also will be championing safety.
02:36 The flagship infrastructure project is expected to service up to 800,000 passengers a day
02:43 and shorten the travel time between Baclaran, Pasay City, and Bacor from 1 hour and 10 minutes to 25 minutes.
02:52 The new train sets have a total capacity of 1,388 passengers per trip and are estimated to run at a speed of 70 km/h.
03:02 One of the 20 Gen 4 train sets will be arranged and will be added one more every week until December.
03:09 These features will substantially improve operational efficiency
03:14 so that passenger waiting time between train sets will be reduced to less than 3 minutes.
03:20 24th generation train sets are in the country now and it is expected that 10 will arrive in November and February next year.
03:29 The complete deployment of these new train sets is expected in the 4th quarter of 2024.
03:35 Kenneth, patient for the country.
