Glasgow headlines 15 May: Dad receives life imprisonment for murdering daughter’s boyfriend

An ex-soldier has been given a life sentence of 17 years in prison after murdering his daughter’s boyfriend at his flat in Port Glasgow.

Daniel Langman violently attacked Anthony Collins in May 2021, taking his victims life.

He told jurors he had not meant to kill the man but had lost control after finding Collins in his flat that had been “obliterated”.

Next up, Glasgow City Council’s Labour leader will remain in power following a campaign against his position.

George Redmond won a recent contest by 20 votes to 15 against Philip Braat’s bid to oust him.

Councillor Redmond said he was delighted to once again have the confidence of his group.

And finally, Lewis Capaldi is to perform an intimate concert at the O2 Academy in Glasgow next month, with only 900 tickets made available.

The signer is returning to his home city to perform in aid of the release of his latest album, Broken by Desire to Be Heavenly Sent which is set to be released this month.
