Birmingham headlines 18 January: Man admits to murder of Robert West
A man has admitted to the killing of Robert West who was stabbed to death at a club in Birmingham February last year. Rashidi Powell aged twenty admitted to the manslaughter which took place during a brawl. Two others were arrested in connection to the incident.

A teenager has been charged with attempted murder following a shooting in Smethwick last week. Haider Ali Shabir is currently in custody along with four others after his court appearance following the shooting which left two men in their 40s with life threatening injuries.

The former John Lewis store in Birmingham's Grand Central is set to be transformed into a 200,000 square foot workspace expected to accomodate up to 2000 people. The proposed space set to be called "The Drum" is set for completion in 2025 subject to receiving planning permission.
