माघ मास में कृष्ण पक्ष की चतुर्थी तिथि सकट चौथ के रूप में मनाई जाती है. इसे संकष्टी चतुर्थी, वक्रतुण्डी चतुर्थी, माही चौथ और तिल कुटा चौथ भी कहा जाता है. शास्त्रों में सकट चौथ पर मिट्टी से बने गौरी, गणेश, चंद्रमा की पूजा का विधान बताया गया है. साथ ही इस दिन सकट माता की पूजा भी की जाती है. शब्द सकट का अर्थ है संकट, इस दिन गणपति ने देवताओं का संकट दूर किया था. इस बार सकट चौथ 10 जनवरी 2023 को मनाई जाएगी. सकट चौथ के दिन माताएं अपनी संतान के लिए निर्जला व्रत रखती हैं और उनकी लंबी उम्र की कामना करती हैं. इस दिन प्रसाद में तिल कुटा बनाने का विधान बताया गया है इसलिए इसे तिला कुटा चौथ भी कहा जाता है
