St George's chief economist Besa Deda spoke to the ABC about the figures released today. The increase in employment in May was the seventh consecutive increase in employment, following the easing of lockdown restrictions in late 2021. It saw the participation rate jump from 66.4% to 66.7%, while the underemployment rate fell from 6.1% to 5.7%.
