Today is the eighth day of Navratri, today Mahagauri, the eighth form of mother is being worshipped, the eighth day of Navratri is also known as Mahashtami. Ashtami date has special significance in Navratri. Kanya Puja is also done on this day, this year on Chaitra Navratri, Navratri is falling for nine days due to the absence of a single date. Due to which this year Ashtami is being celebrated today. Some people break the fast on Ashtami Tithi only with Kanya Puja. While some people break the fast by worshiping the girl-on the day of Ram Navami.

नवरात्रि का आज आठवां दिन है, आज मां के आठवें स्वरूरप Mahagauri, की पूजा अर्चना की जा रही है, नवरात्रि के आठवें दिन को महाष्टमी के नाम से भी जाना जाता है ।नवरात्रि में अष्टमी तिथि का विशेष महत्व होता है इस दिन Kanya Puja भी किया जाता है, इस साल चैत्र नवरात्रि पर एक भी तिथि का क्षय न होने के कारण नवरात्रि नौ दिनों की पड़ रही है। जिसके कारण इस साल अष्टमी आज मनाई जा रही है। कुछ लोग अष्टमी तिथि को ही कन्या पूजन के साथ व्रत पारण करते हैं। जबकि कुछ लोग राम नवमी के दिन कन्या पूजन करके व्रत पारण करते हैं।
