Energy giant Sinopec says new oil and gas deposits found in China’s western Xinjiang region

Two new gas and oil deposits have been found in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region in western China, according to China Petroleum & Chemical (Sinopec). The oil giant said in a January 25, 2022, statement that the deposits will yield daily outputs of 874 barrels of crude oil and 1.093 million cubic metres of natural gas. Sinopec says new wells tapped ultra-deep fault zones discovered in 2016, which are at  high pressure and temperature, making them among the world’s most difficult to explore…
