For the first time in India, massive reserves of Lithium were found in J&K’s Reasi. Union govt on Feb 10 announced that 5.9 million tonnes of non-ferrous metal were found in the Salal-Haimana area of the Reasi district.

Lithium is a non-ferrous metal, and a vital component in EV rechargeable batteries.

Not only EV batteries, but Lithium is also used for batteries in various electronic devices such as smartphones, cameras and many more. Soon after the news broke out, Reasi locals expressed happiness as the discovery might solve the valley’s unemployment issue.
