We Got Hate Mail For Being Poly | LOVE DON'T JUDGE
  • 3 years ago
A POLYAMOROUS THROUPLE have spoken of the backlash they've received for their relationship - including anonymous hate letters sent to their places of work. Maggie, 27, and Cody, 31, first met on Tinder in 2016 and got together almost immediately. Realising they were both interested in polyamory, they downloaded a dating app specifically for non-monogamous people, hoping to find someone to have a fling with. Meanwhile, Janie, 26, had recently discovered she was bisexual and downloaded the same app in search of some fun. She soon matched with Cody and Maggie - and the rest is history. She joked: "We were supposed to just have a casual threesome - but then I never left." Now, the throuple are happier than ever. But their relationship has not been without its difficulties. Not only have they faced judgement online, but they also received a string of anonymous hate notes, sent to their workplaces. The poison pen letters included screenshots of their social media accounts, accusing Janie of "faking" her sexuality, and saying that Cody "lacked loyalty and commitment." The trio never found out who sent the letters, and the threat was not deemed sufficient enough to open a criminal investigation. Still, undeterred by the hate, Maggie, Janie and Cody continue to document their lives openly online, in the hope that they can dispel some common stereotypes about polyamory. Maggie said: "I think the biggest misconception is that it's all about sex."
